Product Highlight: Equatemp® Mold Machine Nozzles
Melt Design manufactures state-of-the-art internally heated mold machine nozzles with patented Equatemp® technology for injection mold presses and hot runner systems. These nozzles help ensure uniform temperature distribution, improve thermal control, reduce shear stress on plastic material, and minimize material degradation. Additionally, Equatemp nozzles are made in the United States, so you know you’re getting the quality you deserve.
Key Features & Benefits
Internally heated nozzles provide more benefits than their externally heated nozzle counterparts, including better precision in temperature control, improved material flow control, reduced costs for replacement parts, and better energy efficiency due to limited heat loss. Plus, Equatemp’s unique design and build quality have proven to improve performance and lower lifetime costs.
Let’s take a look at some of the key features of Equatemp’s nozzles:
Ceramic-Insulated Resistance Wire
Equatemp nozzles are designed with ceramic-insulated resistance wire, which withstands extreme temperatures and ensures the highest possible heat transfer rate, leading to longer service life.
Replaceable Thermocouple at the Nozzle Tip
Equatemp’s nozzle design features the thermocouple positioned at the tip, which helps provide more precise control of the injection material temperature. And, having better control over the melt temperature results in higher molded part quality and reduced waste than you can expect from externally heated nozzles that heat the nozzle body rather than the tip.
This design also makes replacing the thermocouple easier. And, if the nozzle fails, it won’t leak and flood other nozzles, wires, and the molding assembly, as can happen with externally heated nozzles.
Nozzle Threading Options
Equatemp nozzles are available with stock rear threads in 1.5″ – 12″ or 1.75″ – 8” configurations. These stock rear thread sizes make it easy to improve your operation by replacing your externally heated nozzles with Equatemp internally heated nozzles. Custom threading types are also available upon request.
Heat-Treated H-13 Tool Steel Body
The nozzle body is made of heat-treated H-13 tool steel, offering high-temperature resistance for increased reliability. An optional 60-degree elbow provides additional flexibility for confined space applications.
Armored Cable
These nozzles use armored cables to protect the leads and thermocouples, further increasing nozzle reliability and durability.
