Hi-Watt Designs Integrated Environmental Chamber Controls for a Biopharma OEM

Manufacturers in the biopharma sector have the challenging requirement of maintaining tight temperature tolerances. It’s easy for temperature gradients to develop in environmental chambers from poor air circulation, heat-generating equipment inside the chamber, or poor insulation, and even slight variations can affect product stability. Additionally, minor disturbances like door openings can impact temperature, so these chambers need a solution that allows for quick recovery to a specific setpoint without overshooting.

The Problem

A large U.S.-based biopharma OEM was in the process of developing advanced tissue and environmental chambers. The company came to Hi-Watt looking for a single control solution capable of precisely regulating the multiple environmental variables inside the chambers. The solution had to be robust, cost-efficient, and flexible enough to scale across multiple chamber models.

Our Solution

Hi-Watt works with a variety of thermal solutions manufacturers and has an in-house engineering team that can handle custom configurations and designs. Our Account Managers and Engineers designed a Watlow F4T control package that could reliably monitor and manage temperature, humidity, airflow, and motion across multiple environmental chambers. Hi-Watt provided on-site support to the OEM’s technical team throughout every phase of this project, from testing to implementation, to ensure success.

Our solution resulted in cost savings, process accuracy, and scalability for our customer, eventually leading to a multi-year strategic partnership.
