The Problem

Heating systems designed for critical defense applications must be able to withstand extreme temperature ranges, offer predictable and reliable performance, even at high altitudes, and can’t ever generate electromagnetic noise.

When a major U.S. government testing facility contacted us about a process requiring 140” cartridge-style heaters operating at a 400°C range, they had already unsuccessfully tried other heating sources, and they needed a new solution as quickly as possible. This was a new challenge for Hi-Watt, but not an impossible one.

Our Solution

We know that the defense industry has stringent requirements, and for good reason. Our engineering team met with stakeholders on-site several times to review application requirements and documentation, as well as to present design iterations.

After stakeholders approved a final design, we rapidly produced samples for qualification testing. Because of our design expertise, our samples passed first-qualification testing with no issues. The next step was to ensure the testing facility received the final products by their tight deadline. Hi-Watt was able to quickly produce and manage monthly shipments of 50 heaters, each of which were successfully launched.
