An International Food and Beverage company that produces high quality food packaging materials approached Hiwatt about increasing their manufacturing volume capability by adding electric heating capability to its current super-heated process.  The Hi-Watt team designed a custom heater and Watlow/Eurotherm control panel system to achieve the thermal processing goals while saving the customer millions in physical expansion cost if faced with a legacy solution only.  Additionally, Hi-Watt team made several on-site customer visits to ensure product fit and start up process success.

The Problem

An international food and beverage company faced a problem not uncommon in food manufacturing—demand was increasing. The problem was that their current thermal processing system couldn’t meet those demands. Even worse, upgrading their existing legacy system to support new demands would’ve resulted in a physical facility expansion costing millions. They needed to add an electric heating capability to their current super-heated process, but they couldn’t afford a facility expansion.

Our Solution

Our experts evaluated their existing heating process and designed a customized heater with a Watlow/Eurotherm control panel system that delivered a higher output with the same footprint. In addition to designing this upgrade system, we visited their facility several times to ensure integration and installation success before a full rollout to reduce production disruption.
